US Congressman Bill Foster Visits Illinois River Energy (click for pictures) July 6th 2010
US Congressman Bill Foster recently visited the Illinois River Energy (IRE) Biorefinery Ethanol facility located in Rochelle, IL on July 6, 2010.  Congressman Foster toured the IRE facility and also met with the Illinois Corn Marketing Board team who was also hosted at IRE the same day.  IRE welcomes the opportunity for members of our congress, such as Congressman Foster, to visit with our team and learn more about America’s true Green Fuel and how Illinois and IRE work to create Green Jobs and Energy Independence.

Ethanol, the economically renewable energy is faced with several challenges in becoming a greater portion of America’s energy needs.  The “Blend Wall” is a barrier that the EPA needs to act quickly to move higher the usage of our home grown ethanol from its current limitation of 10% blend to a minimum of 15% ethanol blended in gasoline.  The US farmer/grower continues to produce more renewable raw material feed, while using less energy and lower inputs on less acres each year.  Ethanol produced from renewable feed corn is our first step in ultimately creating America’s total energy needs from renewable resources.

IRE thanks US Congressman Bill Foster for his time visiting our Team and seeing firsthand how the frontier of renewable energy is being economically produced.

Illinois River Energy hosted a group of 25 educators on June 16th from the DeKalb County Farm Bureau’s Summer Ag Institute. Their graduate-level course, “Teaching about Agriculture and Sustainability” enables these teachers to introduce their students (K-12) to the importance of agriculture in our economy, our society and in our everyday lives. The IRE team consisting of Dale Jackson, Joe Bailey, Adam Kennay and Stephanie Brainard educated this group of teachers on topics including ethanol production, the ethanol industry and how it began, current legislative issues affecting ethanol followed by a question and answer session and finally a tour of the facility.
